TBRI® Caregiver Package

Trust-Based Relational Intervention®

What it is

Provides caregivers, parents, and professionals with practical tools to support children who have experienced trauma, loss, or adversity.

Developed by the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University, Trust-Based Relational Intervention is an evidence-based approach that focuses on building trust, strengthening connection, and supporting a child’s emotional and behavioral regulation. Through engaging modules and real-life examples, caregivers learn how to understand the “why” behind behaviors and respond in ways that promote healing and growth.

Core Principles

Connecting

Building trust and strong relationships

Empowering

Supporting a child’s physical and emotional needs

Correcting

Teaching appropriate behaviors in supportive ways.

Participants gain practical techniques they can immediately use at home or in caregiving settings to create predictable, supportive environments where children can thrive. This training is ideal for foster, adoptive, and kinship caregivers, as well as professionals who support families impacted by trauma
